트럼프 행정부의 리플에 대한 태도 (feat. Cory Johnson)

오늘은 미국 정부에서 리플에 대해 어떻게 생각하고 있을까에 대한 힌트를 얻을 수 있는

코리 존슨(리플사의 마케팅 전략 수석-Chief Market Strategist)의 인터뷰를 가져왔습니다.

 

질문)

"Do you have a sense of what the Trump administration thinks about a product like Ripple?"

"트럼프 행정부가 리플에 대해 어떻게 생각하는지 아세요?"

 

답변)

"When I started to meet with people in government and regulators, I had very low expectations. 

I have been truly amazed at the open-mindedness, number one. 

And number two, the smart questions, sometimes even tough questions. 

There’s clearly a lot of homework going on. 

The White House in particular seems to be thinking about what it means to have 80 percent of bitcoin mining taking place in China and a majority of Ether mining taking place in China. 

When you look at XRP, there is no mining, so from a foreign-control aspect or from an environmental aspect, XRP is a very different beast. 

And in conversations we’ve had with the administration, they seem to get that and think that might matter."

 

"제가 정부와 규제당국의 사람들을 만나기 시작했을 때, 저는 별로 기대를 하지 않았습니다.

근데 우선 저는 그들의 오픈 마인드에 매우 놀랐습니다.

그리고 두번째로 놀란것은 그들의 똑똑한 그리고 때로는 예리한 질문들 이었습니다.

분명히 많은 숙제가 있습니다.

특히 백악관은 비트코인 채굴의 80%가 중국이란 점과 이더리움 채굴의 대부분이 중국이란 점에 대해 생각하는것 같습니다.  

XRP를 보면, 채굴이란 개념이 없기 때문에 외국으로부터의 통제나 환경적인 측면(전기사용)에서 보면 XRP는 전혀 다르다고 할 수 있습니다.

(즉 XRP는 채굴풀의 영향력에서 자유로우며, 채굴이 없으므로 그로인해 낭비되는 에너지와 그에 따른 환경적 문제에 대해 자유로움)

행정부와의 대화에서 그들은 이점에 대해 이해하고 그것이 중요할 수도 있다고 생각하는 것 같습니다."

 

 

미 정부에서 리플에 대해 우호적이라 확신할 순 없지만

최소한 비트코인/이더리움 보다는 당연히 우호적일 수 밖에 없다는 점은 짐작이 가능할 것 같습니다.

 

그 외 인터뷰에서 참고할 만한 내용도 몇가지 덧붙여 드립니다.

 

 

"But we’re in regular talks throughout Washington, and we meet with regulators as well as politicians.

We’ve got a whole team that’s devoted to doing that, not just in the US, but worldwide.

Our regulatory team, they jump on planes like their pants are on fire.”

"하지만 우리는 워싱턴 전역에서 정기적인 대화를 하고 있고, 정치인들뿐만 아니라 규제당국도 만납니다.

우리는 그것을 하는데 전념하는 팀이 있습니다. 미국뿐만 아니라 전 세계적으로요.

규제팀에서는 바지에 불이 난 것처럼 비행기를 타죠.(매우 바쁘다는뜻)"

"As for whether the US Securities and Exchange Commission will decide to classify XRP as a security, Johnson says judgement day may never come at all.

“I think the question I get all the time is ‘When is the SEC going to say something about XRP?’ And I think it’s possible the answer is never.

I would guess that an administrative agency doesn’t want to take on regulating an entirely new part of the world when no one’s asked them to do it, and no one’s going to raise their budget for doing it."

"미국 증권 거래 위원회(SEC)가 XRP를 증권으로 분류할 것인지에 대해 존슨은 XRP를 증권으로 판단하는 날이 결코 오지 않을 것이라고 말합니다.

"저는 항상 'SEC가 언제 XRP에 대해 무언가를 말할 것인가?'라는 질문을 받는데, 그에 대한 대답은 never 일수 있습니다."

(즉, SEC가 XRP의 증권여부에 대해 판단하는 일이 아예 없을것이다.)

행정기관들은 전혀 새로운 분야에 대해 규제하기를 원하지 않는다. 그럴 예산도 없고 누가 시키지도 않는다."
